So, Photobucket has stopped permitting to link to the images from other sites. For now I still see my icons on several posts, but not on others. I guess this might simply be down with what might or might not be cashed (or whatever).
I checked out how much they want for that feature and considering that I haven't opened Photoshop in over a year - I'm not paying the 40/month or even the discounted 400$/year they want.
The icons should still be accessible/visible when you go directly to Photobucket. Click here for my Photobucket library
So, for the past week, I've been considering what else to do. Leave all the broken links as they are? Make a masterlist post with links to the fandom folders (on Photobucket or a different site)?
I've looked at using the space available here on dreamwidth for usage, but as far as I can see it doesn't offer a folder structure. Sign up for a different image hosting site? I'm not sure if I want to go around and compare them all.
That's when I remembered my trusty old Picasa 3 that I use to view (and to some extend manage) images on my computer. It doesn have an online storage that I previously used to share images with my family (vacations, new flats, etc) where I had too many to simply send per mail. I'm not sure if there are any limits, but I know I can use folders. Uploading would also be pretty easy considering that I can use the Picasa 3 for it.
Before I do that though, I will sort my icons a bit. I'm considering deleting some old icons I made that I can't find anything good with (I've spotted some of my first ones that at least were very creative, if not necessarily perfect, but others are *shudders*). On the other hand, they show how far I've come. For now, I'm just moving them to a folder called "old". Where the folder already existed I had simply named it "jpg" as that was the format I used for my first icons until it was pointed out that .png was the better format.
I think it's a very diplomatic name (especially as I moved some of the "newer" icons in there as well - "newer" meaning they're already png files)
No matter what happens, I won't go back to fix the links. That'll just be too much work.
